Spatial Videos - Digital Nomad

Spatial Videos is a video format introduced by Apple for experiencing your favorite memories and special moments in a three dimensional manner on Apple Vision Pro, the mixed-reality headset. Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing, describes Spatial Videos as “magical” and “setting a new bar for what’s possible.”

Spatial videos can be recorded on iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max. This recording option can be enabled in Settings by toggling on “Spatial Video for ‌Apple Vision Pro‌” in the Camera section under Formats. Spatial videos uses MV-HEVC (Multiview HEVC), which can be understood as an extension of HEVC. The main purpose of this format is to efficiently encode two video frames with only different perspectives in an efficient compression method. Current Spatial Videos are captured in 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second which Apple's iPhone uses both the main and ultrawide cameras to capture when recording.
